North American band Earth, Wind & Fire drummer Fred White died Sunday at the age of 67, his brother Verdine White confirmed on social media Monday, without disclosing the cause of death.
“Today our family is saddened by the loss of an amazing and talented family member, our beloved brother Frederick Eugene “Freddie” White. Join our brothers Maurice, Monte and Ronald in heaven and now play drums with the angels,” wrote the founder of Earth, Wind and Fire.
Fred White is the fourth of the White brothers to join Pop/Disco in 1974 when he was only 19 years old.
The drummer has featured on eight Earth, Wind & Fire albums, recording the hits “September”, “Boogie Wonderland”, “Saturday Night” and “Shining Star”.
Born January 13, 1955 in Chicago, USA, Fred White is one of nine members of Earth, Wind & Fire inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
