The Government of Denmark declares an energy emergency due to leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 gas pipelines

Danish authorities have reported one leak in Nord Stream 2 in Danish waters in the Baltic and two others in Nord Stream 1. Both pipelines are out of service.

The Government of Denmark declared an emergency in the electricity and gas sectors on Tuesday after detecting it in the last few hours three leaks in the Nord Stream 1 and 2 pipelines. In addition, it has Navigation prohibited within a radius of five miles around the leak areas and flights within a one kilometer area.

The Danish authorities initially reported a leak in the Nord Stream 2 in Danish waters in the Baltic andsubsequently, of another two on the Nord Stream 1, one in the waters of this Nordic country and another in those of neighboring Sweden, near the island of Bornholm.

“The breakage of pipes rarely occurs, so we see reason to increase the level of emergency as a result of the events that occurred last day. We want to ensure careful monitoring of critical infrastructure to reinforce security of supply,” it states in a statement. release.

Both pipelines are out of service: The Nord Stream 1 has been detained for weeks after Russia alleges an oil leak; the other was never in operation.
