The European Commission proposes to establish a ceiling for the price of Russian oil

It is one of the sanctions raised this Wednesday by Brussels. There is also, among them, the prohibition of European citizens from being able to be part of the boards of directors of public companies in Russia.

The European Comission proposed this Wednesday a new group of sanctions against Russiaspecifically the eighth since the invasion of Ukraineamong which is set a ceiling for the price of Russian oil imported by the European Union. Also among them is the ban for European citizens to be able to be part of the boards of directors of public companies of Russia.

The cap on the price of oil is in line with the agreement reached by the G7, said the president of the Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, in an appearance before the press to present the measures.

The ban on EU citizens sitting on company boards is intended to prevent possible cases like that of former German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, who worked for Gazprom.
