The municipal road that crosses Casal da Cantarola and serves other communities “is in danger of collapsing,” said Rui Perdigao, president of the Moita dos Ferreiros parish council in Lorignan.
The mayor explained that the road, built on a slope about seven meters high, had already collapsed several times, taking into account the “high traffic congestion” with “200-300 passes per day” and the problems of lack of traffic. water drainage.
“Water drainage has never been carried out and requires extensive work,” warned Ruy Perdigao, who asked the Bombarral City Council, which owns the road, to take responsibility after the problem worsened in recent months.
In a conversation with Lusa, municipal representatives acknowledged “the need for new measures along the entire route, with some urgency,” with the prospect of “repairing the road by the end of the year or the beginning of next.”
The Leiria District Municipality also intends to begin developing a road rehabilitation project, without setting a time frame.
