Putin will sign this Friday the treaties of annexation to Russia of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia

It will be at 2:00 p.m. in Euskal Herria. Between 87.05 and 99.23% of voters in the territories partially controlled by Russian forces in eastern and southern Ukraine have supported joining Russia.

The Russian President Vladimir Putinwill sign this Friday, September 30treaties for annexation of the Ukrainian regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhiathe Kremlin has announced: “The signing ceremony of the agreements for the entry of the new territories into Russia will take place on Friday,” said the spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, at his daily press conference.

Peskov added that the signing will take place in the St. George hall of the Grand Kremlin Palace, at 2:00 p.m. in the Basque Country. The event will include an important speech by Putin.

The leaders of those regions arrived on a joint flight to the Russian capital on Wednesday. The day before, the leaders of Jersón, Volodímir Saldo; from Zaporizhia, Yevgueni Balitski; from Donetsk, Denis Pushilin; and from Luhansk, Leonid Pásechnik, had formally requested Putin to incorporate his territories into Russia.

Support of between 87.05 and 99.23% of voters

According to the results released on Thursday by the pro-Russian authorities, with one hundred percent of the ballots counted, between 87.05 and 99.23% of voters in the territories partially controlled by Russian forces in eastern and southern Ukraine have supported annexation to Russia.

Both houses of the Russian Parliament are expected to formally endorse the annexation agreements early next week. The Russian Senate plans to debate that matter next Tuesday, October 4; before, the incorporation has to receive the approval of the Russian Duma or Lower House, which meets for an extraordinary session a day before, on Monday.

At the same time, on Friday afternoon, in Moscow’s Red Square, an act will be held in support of the incorporation of new territories into Russia. The Kremlin has indicated that it will report on Putin’s possible attendance at that event.
