Microsoft will hire Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI, the man in charge of the North American company Satya Nadella announced this Monday, three days after the announcement of Altman’s dismissal from the “startup” dedicated to artificial intelligence.

OpenAI is the company that launched the AI platform ChatGPT and has many investors, including Microsfot.
Altman was fired by OpenAI’s board of directors on Friday in an internal power struggle that caught Silicon Valley, where Altman is considered a prodigy, by surprise.
OpenAI co-founder Greg Brockman also resigned after learning of Altman’s dismissal.
The administration said in a statement that Altman “has not always been honest in his communications,” which has impacted his ability to “perform his responsibilities.”
“The board of directors no longer has confidence in his ability to continue to lead OpenAI,” the statement said, without elaborating on Altman’s alleged lack of integrity.
Satya Nadella also mentioned on social media X that everyone at Microsoft is “looking forward to meeting and working with Emmett Shear (OpenAI’s new CEO) and the new leadership team.”
Satya Nadella also stated that Microsoft will continue to support its partnership with OpenAI.
Altman co-founded and co-chaired OpenAI with Elon Musk, who left the company in 2018.
The company has been leading the field of generative artificial intelligence since it launched ChatGPT a year ago, a “chatbot” that went viral for its ability to communicate with people.
