For violation of the Media Law, the court suspended the activities of the EROS TV channel in Volgograd, local publication Gorodskie Vesti reported on November 23.
“On November 22, the Volgograd Regional Court held a hearing on the administrative claim of the Roskomnadzor Office for the Volgograd Region and the Republic of Kalmykia to terminate the activities of the Electronic Radio Optical Systems (EROS) media channel “. – says the message.
It should be noted that the editorial office of the TV channel twice a year violated the requirements of Article 4 of the Law “On the Media” (Inadmissibility of abuse of freedom of mass information – approx. IA Krasnaya Vesna)”.
The department reportedly issued written warnings to the founder and editor-in-chief of the EROS television channel in April and May 2023. Both warnings were reportedly appealed, but were upheld by the court.
It is noted that in the first case the television channel broadcast materials included in the federal list of extremist materials. In the second case, information about a foreign agent was disseminated without indicating his status.
The publication reports that the court satisfied the claims of the local Roskomnadzor and once the court decision comes into force, the activities of the EROS television channel will be suspended.
