Japan remembers Henry Kissinger’s role in ensuring peace and stability in Asia

Japan’s Prime Minister this Thursday hailed the “significant contribution to peace and stability” in Asia made by former US Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, who died on Wednesday at the age of 100.

Kissinger made “significant contributions to regional peace and stability, including the normalization of diplomatic relations between the United States and China,” Fumio Kishida told reporters.

Shortly after Nixon’s historic 1972 visit to Beijing, in which he played a key role, Kissinger was outraged by Japan’s intention to quickly normalize relations with communist China, thereby turning against Washington, according to US government documents, which was disqualified in 2006.
