A high-level delegation will travel to Mexico on Wednesday on behalf of the US president to urgently discuss with his Mexican counterpart new measures to prevent migrants from crossing borders.
The delegation will be led by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, who will be accompanied by the Secretary of Homeland Security and the person responsible for US immigration policy, Alejandro Mayorkas, as well as White House Security Adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall.
The trip was agreed upon by the two leaders last Thursday when Joe Biden called Andrés Manuel López Obrador and told him of his concerns about the scale of the migrant crisis, which has caused the United States to close several border posts for several days.
