Electric vehicle maker Tesla announced Thursday it would suspend major production at its European plant near Berlin for two weeks.
The company cited shortages of parts as a result of lengthened transport routes due to the attacks in the Red Sea.
“The significant increase in transport times is creating a void in supply chains,” the company said in a statement given to AFP.
Production will be suspended “with the exception of certain sub-sectors” at the plant, located south of Berlin, between January 29 and February 11, text added.
Early Thursday morning, Yemen’s Houthi rebels fired a missile into the Gulf of Aden without hitting any ships.
