Patrice Trovoada said the archipelago’s participation in the commission followed events in November 2022, when five civilians attacked a military barracks in what authorities regarded as a coup attempt and resulted in the deaths of four people. The attackers, showing signs of aggression and torture, were handed over by the army.

“Although these mechanisms are intended mainly for countries that are emerging from conflict, emerging from war, but [as Nações Unidas] Sao Tome and Principe thought it would be good to present the fragile situation that exists in these sectors and see if we can get support.

Patrice Trovoada’s next destination will be Serbia for a “working visit” with the aim of “deepening bilateral relations”, which began with agriculture, as well as in the field of defense, in which an agreement has already been signed, mainly for the provision of forces “training and some equipment” . and security agencies, especially police officers, are in short supply.

The Prime Minister wants to expand cooperation with Serbia also “at the level of trade, through credit lines,” given that “it is a country that has strong exports in the field of agriculture.”

“Rome’s agenda includes issues that are very important to us, such as food security, as well as private investment issues.
