The 20-year-old carried out several knife-point robberies at Lisbon’s Gar do Oriente train station in order to “leave the country as quickly as possible,” he told PSP at the time of his arrest. According to PSP this Friday, the arrest took place on Tuesday evening.
The police knew that the thief had escaped with the knife. They managed to intercept him near the entrance to the shopping center with a weapon. There were two victims at the police station, and one “immediately” recognized her assailant, “stating that he had threatened him with a knife,” PSP reported.
The man had 3,325 euros in banknotes, which he admitted were the proceeds of robberies committed with a “friend”. As he said several times that he wanted to leave the country, he found himself trapped. But the case was referred for investigation before a judge and he was released.
