Montenegro considers von der Leyen’s candidacy for the EPP commission “great news for Europe”

The President of the PSD said this Monday that the nomination of Ursula von der Leyen from the European People’s Party (PPP) to the position of President of the European Commission, which she currently holds, “is great news for Europe.”

“Great news for Europe, the PSD and the EPP: Von der Leyen will be our candidate for the presidency of the European Commission. She is the guarantor of the project that the EPP member PSD has for the future. EU. Thank you Ursula! Count on us!” Luis Montenegro wrote on the social network X (formerly Twitter).

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced this Monday her candidacy for the “Spitzenkandidat” (head of the list) of the EPP in the European elections in June, seeking to put forward her candidacy for the post of head of the institution.
