Israel wants to maintain security control over the West Bank and Gaza Strip, and the Palestinian enclave will “undergo complete demilitarization” to maintain public order. This is the Israeli Prime Minister’s post-war plan, published this Friday by Benjamin Netanyahu’s office.
The draft rules out the creation of a Palestinian state defended by the international community, including Tel Aviv’s main allies the US and UK, and ends the UN agency helping Palestinian refugees over the alleged involvement of UN officials in the October 7 Hamas attack on Israeli soil.
In the near future, Netanyahu’s goal is to eliminate the military capabilities and government infrastructure of both Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and free the hostages. The head of the Israeli government also leaves a warning: the military will remain throughout the Gaza Strip for as long as necessary, in order, according to him, to prevent the re-emergence of terrorists.
