Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin approved a six-month ban on gasoline exports from Russia, RBC reported on February 27, citing an informed source close to the government.
The ban on the supply of Russian gasoline does not apply to the EAEU countries, Mongolia, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
The government received the corresponding proposal from Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak, who in his speech on February 21 noted the imminent start of the season with increased demand for fuel in the domestic market.
An increase in demand in the domestic market is expected due to the start of spring field work, repairs at refineries and the Christmas season.
The ban on gasoline exports for the next six months will stabilize prices in the domestic market for petroleum products.
Simultaneously with the ban on gasoline exports, the Russian government increased the standard for sales of diesel fuel on the stock exchange to 16%.
Let us remember that on February 3, the Ministry of Energy reported that exports of motor gasoline and diesel compared to January 2023 decreased by 37% and 23%, respectively.
Since the beginning of the year, the exchange prices for gasoline of classes AI-92 and AI-95, as well as for summer diesel fuel, have increased by 8% to 23% since the beginning of the year. At the same time, wholesale gasoline prices grew much more slowly and diesel prices became even cheaper. Retail fuel prices have decreased slightly.
Against the background of increasing fuel exchange prices and decreasing prices on the small wholesale market, Novak proposed increasing the rules for fuel trading on the exchange.
