Court rejects Donald Trump’s request to reduce bail for tax fraud

A New York court today rejected a request by Donald Trump’s lawyers to pay only part of a fine of more than 400 million euros imposed by the court for tax fraud.

The Associated Press (AP) news agency reported that state appeals court judge Anil Singh refused to stay the recovery of approximately 420 million euros ($454 million) for civil fraud, which was decided on February 16.

The former president’s lawyers appealed the decision and asked him to pay just 92 million euros ($100 million) while the appeal continued, but a judge ruled that Trump must pay the full amount to prevent execution.

However, Singh has now granted some of the requests of Trump’s lawyers, namely the lifting of a three-year ban on loans from New York banks.

Lawyers argued that without loans, the former president would not be able to pay off the entire bail.

But the leading Republican presidential candidate has already said he is worth several billion euros and revealed last year that he has about 369 million euros ($400 million) in cash, in addition to real estate and other assets.
