Indian police have arrested all suspects involved in the gang rape of a Brazilian tourist who was touring the country on a motorcycle with her husband, who was also brutally attacked. Vicente, a 63-year-old Spaniard, and Fernanda, 28, a Brazilian with dual Spanish citizenship, were attacked last Friday night while camping in the Dumca region. “Something happened to us that we wouldn’t wish on anyone. I was raped by seven men. They beat us and robbed us, but they didn’t take much because they wanted to rape me,” Fernanda wrote on Instagram, where she talked about a trip to India six months ago.
In the video Fernanda posted, bruises are visible on her face. “This is what my face looks like, but that’s not what hurts the most. I thought we were going to die,” he added. His comrade was also injured after being beaten with a helmet and stones. After the crime, a police patrol found the couple on the road near the forest. However, due to the language barrier, authorities did not immediately understand what had happened. Only in the hospital was the fact of rape confirmed. The couple received a check for one million rupees, about 11 thousand euros, as compensation from the Indian government. India is considered one of the most dangerous countries for women, with rape recorded on average every 17 minutes.
