Two people were killed in a collision between a bus and a car on the island of Sal in Cape Verde.

Authorities said two people were killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a car on the island of Sal this Thursday.

The victims are a Cape Verdean man and woman aged between 25 and 35, residents of the archipelago, who were in a car that caught fire after the collision, said Luse Hedercio Gomez, civil protection adviser for the island of Cape Verde. Salt.

The bus was accompanied by 40 hotel employees heading to work, among whom minor injuries were recorded.

Sal Island is the main tourist destination in Cape Verde.

“This is the first time that an accident of this kind has occurred here with burnt victims,” Hedercio Gomes said.

The collision occurred on a section of road under construction connecting Espargos and Santa Maria, but the causes of the accident are still being established, he added.
