Russia manufactured an air defense system from FPV drones

FPV drones “Joker-10” were adapted to perform air defense tasks, said Dmitry Kuzyakin, general director of the developer “Center for Integrated Unmanned Solutions” (CDBR), RIA Novosti reports on March 31.

According to the developer, enemy drones can be hit by a battering ram or by explosives from pipes installed in heat traps.

According to Dmitry Kuzyakin, in the future this solution could become a cheap alternative to expensive air defense missiles, since a drone can cost “cheaper than a bicycle.”

It should be noted that in January 2023, The New York Times, citing Ukrainian sources, wrote that for Ukraine the means of destroying Russian drones are several times more expensive than the drones themselves. It was reported that a Russian drone costs $20,000 and launching an S-300 missile to destroy it costs $140,000.

Let us remember that the Joker-10 drone can carry up to 5 kg of payload and reach speeds of up to 100 km/h.
