According to Syrian state media, the Iranian consulate in Damascus came under several Israeli attacks this Monday, and the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (OSDH) reported that eleven people were killed in unprecedented explosions.
OSDH initially reported eight deaths.
Among the dead are Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a senior official of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and the top Quds Force commander in charge of operations in Syria and Lebanon, the newspaper reported. Times of Israel.
“The Israeli strikes hit a building in the Mazzeh area of Damascus,” an area that includes the Iranian embassy and the United Nations building, the official Syrian news agency Sana reported.
The department added that “air defense systems attacked enemy targets in the vicinity” of the capital.
