The United States on Tuesday named a Russian citizen and three companies based in Russia that were involved in a scheme to evade sanctions imposed on Russian oligarch Oleg Vladimirovich Deripaska.
The oligarch was sanctioned by the US, Australia, Canada, the European Union (EU), New Zealand and the UK after he was accused of laundering money for Russian President Vladimir Putin in 2018.
“Today’s actions reaffirm our commitment to combating attempts to circumvent international sanctions and export controls. We will continue to defend the international financial system and take action against entities inside and outside Russia that facilitate sanctions evasion,” the US State Department explained.
