He developed an interest in music through his father, who was a big listener of Angolan music, and also through his mother, a native of Cape Verde, whom the Angolan singer considers a bastion of African music. His music is influenced by Angolan folklore, soul musicItalian lyrical music, due to his admiration for Andre Bocelli, and there is no shortage of contemporary music.
At the age of 17, he began singing rap, and at twenty he began composing music. He wrote for many Angolan musicians.
“I wrote from Perola, Maya Cool, Puto Portugues, Selma Ribas, Tamara Nzage, Abiude and even Mozambican musicians. For me it is a constant exercise, it is always an experience,” says Claudio Hoshai.
One of the Angolan singer’s hits is Pió Pió, a song that he considers a classic of modern Angolan music.
“Because it doesn’t need to be presented at any festival. Be it in Angola or in Europe. Everyone sings this song because it’s easy. It’s a song that came out of nowhere. It’s not the despair of love or some relationship that I had with someone, it’s just an imaginary song, I woke up, started creating, and this led to Pió Pió, my success,” says the singer.
