A couple who drove their car into the sea on a Spanish beach face fines of thousands of euros.

A couple who ran their Audi A6 car aground on Oyambre beach in Cantabria, Spain, could face hefty fines.

The first offense is parking a car on the beach. According to El Pais“Unauthorized parking and movement of vehicles, as well as camping and camping” on beaches can be fined between 50 and 150 euros. But there are regions of Spain where such driving can be punishable by higher fines. This is the case in Galicia, where the fine can reach up to 200 thousand euros, depending on the damage caused.

If the beach is part of a natural park, the fine can cost thousands of euros.

If the Civil Guard confirms that the driver was driving on sand, the fine will be 500 euros and the loss of six points on the driver’s license. Several witnesses claim El Pais I saw the car driving along the sand.
