Rishi Sunak announces UK elections on 4 July

According to Reuters, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced this Wednesday that elections will be held on July 4.

According to The Guardian, the Prime Minister had previously said his “working assumption” was that elections would take place in the second half of the year.

However, government officials believe Rishi Sunak was persuaded to hold elections in the summer because the economic outlook is unlikely to improve until the autumn and because of questions over the implementation of his deportation program from Rwanda.

“The time has come for the United Kingdom to choose its future, to decide whether it wants to build on the progress it has made or risk going back to square one with no plan and no certainty,” he said in a statement from Downing Street. where the office operates and the official residence after the meeting of the Council of Ministers.
