In a second report on the May 19 incident, the Iranian army on Wednesday ruled out an explosion caused by sabotage in the helicopter crash that killed President Ebrahim Raisi.
“Based on the samples and tests carried out on the wreckage and parts of the helicopter, the way they were dispersed and the distances between the components separated from the main body, an in-flight explosion caused by sabotage was ruled out,” the general said. Headquarters of the Armed Forces, reports the Mehr news agency.
The military also found no evidence of “electronic warfare” against the plane, which, in addition to Raisi, was carrying Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and six other passengers in the northeastern province of East Azerbaijan.
