NATO allies are opening up to Ukraine using its weapons against Russian territory

Several countries in the NATO have shown this Friday openness to Ukraine being able to use the weapons they have given it to attack targets in Russian territory, an issue that continues to divide the allies even after the United States has given the green light if it is to defend the border region from Kharkiv.

“We all hope that this will be done in accordance with international law and in a responsible manner,” Alliance Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told reporters upon arrival at an informal meeting of allied foreign ministers.

Meeting at the Czernin Palace, headquarters of the Czech Foreign Ministry, the ministers today discuss the preparations for the summit July ally meeting in Washington, in which they hope to approve a greater role for NATO in coordinating the supply of weapons, ammunition and training to Ukraine, as well as a new financial commitment.

But they will also give priority to Ukrainian request of power use weapons that they send to it in Russian territory, especially since Russia has redoubled its attack against Kharkiv in the last month, something to which the United States has agreed as long as they are used in the vicinity of that border region.
