The rise of anti-migrant political movements in the European elections will lead to more migration chaos in other parts of the world, including Africa, a UN refugee agency official warned today.
“The way Europe treats its refugees can be seen in other parts of the world. (…) Europe has an important role to play as a model,” said Vincent Cochetel, Special Envoy of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees. Refugees (UNHCR) on the situation in the Central and Western Mediterranean at a press conference in Geneva.
With far-right parties doing well in the European election polls, Vincent Cochetel believes the rise of anti-immigrant political movements will have global consequences.
