Ukraine denounces the death of 17 civilians in attacks by Russian forces in the last hours

The Ukrainian authorities have denounced this Thursday the death of at least 17 civilians during a series of attacks perpetrated by the russian forces during the last day in various parts of the country; Specifically, eleven people have died in the region of Donetskand six other citizens have died in Zaporizhia, Mikolaiv and Kharkov. In this context, Kirilo Timoshenko, spokesman for the Ukrainian Presidency, has indicated in his Telegram account that eleven people have died in the Donetsk region, one of the main centers of combat between Ukraine and Russia, and another 13 have been injured, while in Zaporizhia there have been two fatalities and more than a dozen injured.

New attacks with Iranian-made drones have been recorded in the capital, kyiv, and its outskirts, according to regional authorities. For the fourth consecutive morning, anti-aircraft alarms have been activated. At the moment, there is no information on possible victims or evaluation of material damage.

The attacks have been carried out with so-called Iranian-made kamikaze drones, used for weeks with greater intensity by Russian troops.

In addition, in the Mikolaiv region two people have died and six others have been injured; in Kharkov, two other people have lost their lives due to the explosion of anti-personnel mines, and four others have been injured.

Special court for war crimes committed by Russia

In parallel, the president of Ukraine, Volodímir Zelenski, has asked the Council of Europe that the continent lead the initiative to create a special court to try war crimes committed by Russia.

“Europe can play a historical rolecreating a special court”, urged Zelenski, in a videoconference speech before the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), a body that has its headquarters in Strasbourg (France).

Last September, the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, an organization from which Russia was excluded in March due to the invasion of Ukraine, had already ruled in favor of the creation of a special court that can judge and establish the responsibilities of the perpetrators of that attack.
