According to the leader of the FNAM, the government was “slow to open competitions” at the national level for the admission of specialists until June 7, which would allow doctors who graduated in March to be quickly employed.
“Now the rule is hasty decree-law (government) measures designed to get doctors started on their careers,” criticized Joana Bordalo e Sa, noting that everything was “done in haste and without attention to the proposals left behind.” by Fnam” at a meeting with the Ministry of Health on June 5.

He also warned of the potential “opacity” that the new doctors’ appointment regime could create, leaving the procedure to “every department” of medical institutions.
Regarding the fact that the government is announcing the opening of an additional 40% of vacancies, the FNAM president objected that this is useless if “measures are not taken to improve the salaries, working conditions and career growth” of these specialists.
