
Famous sports journalist Dmitry Guberniev compared Russian sports to competitions in the United States during an interview on June 29 for Sport 24.
During the interview, Guberniev said: “Russia will become a truly sporting country when ours is like theirs”. His words focus on the scale and organization of sporting events in the United States. The Olympic trials for the US gymnastics team took place in Minneapolis and had full stands in a stadium with a capacity of 20,000 spectators.
Dmitry Guberniev also commented on the list of athletes admitted to participate in the Olympic Games, published by the International Olympic Committee. In his statement, the journalist stressed the importance of supporting Russian athletes: “We should embrace this in every way possible. The people who will go to the Olympic Games are sports heroes. “We will support them”.
