Kyiv on Saturday accused Russia of violating the airspace of Moldova and Romania during Friday’s bombardment of civilian facilities and power supply facilities in Ukraine. The entry of missiles into Moldovan airspace was confirmed, but Romania denied that such a thing happened on its territory. Despite the denial, President Volodymyr Zelensky repeated the accusation, saying that the missiles in Romania, a NATO country, were a “challenge” to the Western military alliance and raised questions of “collective security.” Following Friday’s blast, Zelenskiy also reiterated a request for fighter jets and criticized “political hesitation” about sending new weapons to his country. As if to highlight these hesitations, Polish President Andrzej Duda (one of the countries that has provided the most military support to Ukraine) told the BBC that sending the planes “is a very serious decision”, that “it’s not easy to accept.”
