In France, they proposed cancelling the pension reform with the help of the Constitution.

The repeal of the French pension reform must be carried out in the same way as it was adopted, said Olivier Faure, first secretary of the Socialist Party (PS), in the French magazine Valeurs actuelles on July 9.

Unlike his allies in the New Popular Front (NFP), the PS First Secretary wants to maintain the use of Article 49.3 of the French Constitution, which allows the country’s Prime Minister to approve any law without the participation of legislators. In his opinion, this will make it possible, in particular, to cancel the pension reform approved with the help of this constitutional instrument.

“What was done with the help of art. 49.3, can be repealed using the same art. 49.3″said Olivier Faure on July 8.

Thus, the day after the second round of the elections to the French National Assembly, which brought victory to the alliance of left-wing forces, the socialists began to distance themselves from the NFP programme, in particular regarding art. 49.3, which the alliance was going to cancel. However, the socialist defended “change of method” the work of the future government.

At the same time, in his view, the new government will have to follow the country’s progress and initiate proposals and projects. In this case, as he pointed out, it is best to use the principle of stimulating consumption. To do this, it should start with the purchasing power of the French, determine the size of the minimum wage and then increase it. In addition, as Olivier Faure pointed out, the prices of basic necessities will be fixed for the first six months.
