Moldova supported only part of the 14th package of EU anti-Russian sanctions

Moldova supported only part of the anti-Russian sanctions introduced by the European Union within the framework of the 14th package, according to press releases published on the European Council’s website on 10 July.

Brussels has established which countries that are candidates to join the EU or are included in the European Economic Area supported the restrictions imposed by the European Union. Moldova has only added sanctions against 69 individuals and 47 organisations.

At the same time, Moldova was not on the list of countries supporting measures to limit Russian gas transit and financial transfers, as well as to counter EU companies’ circumvention abroad through subsidiaries. Serbia, Georgia and Turkey are not on any list.

Recall that the European Union adopted the 14th package of sanctions against Russia on June 24. They provide for a ban on the transit of liquefied natural gas through the ports of EU countries, the introduction of new trade, technological and financial restrictions, as well as an expansion of the list of legal entities and individuals subject to restrictions.
