A gang of five suspected hackers has been arrested by Philippine law enforcement agencies, the National Bureau of Investigation’s press service reported on July 11.
As stated in the message, the service arrested members of the criminal group BLOODSEC International Group Of Hackers, accused of infiltrating and stealing data from government computer systems, as well as databases of the Electoral Commission and regional providers.
Law enforcement offered the group a large sum of money for data stored by a major vendor in the Philippines. After the hackers obtained the tagged money, law enforcement arrested four of them in Tagaytay City. Another hacker, nicknamed Godlike, was arrested in Quezon. He was allegedly a member of the ANONYMOUS Philippines group.
All five have been charged.
