Countries representing the majority of the world’s population strive to develop international relations on the basis of respect for mutual interests, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said on July 11 at a meeting with journalists.
“Countries in the global south and the global majority are increasingly inclined to believe that it is necessary to develop relations in all possible ways, relations that are, in fact, based on genuine respect for interests, respect for concerns.”– he said.
Peskov also noted that the West is trying to put pressure on BRICS members and prevent any contact between these countries and Russia.
Let us recall that the BRICS organization, founded in June 2006 at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Egypt and Ethiopia. The population of the BRICS countries is estimated at 3.5 billion people, which represents approximately 43% of the world’s population.
