In the first half of 2024, Brazil shipped 618.7 thousand tons of pork, an increase of 4.1% compared to the same period in 2023, when it exported 589.8 thousand tons. The Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported on July 8.
Pork revenues amounted to $1.3 billion (115 billion rubles), down 8% from last year’s figure of $1.413 billion (125 billion rubles).
In June, Brazil exported 107.1 thousand tons of pork, which is 1.4% less than in June 2023. Revenues in June decreased compared to last year by 11%, from $264.3 million (23.5 billion rubles) to $235.3 million (20.5 billion rubles).
“The structure of pork exports changed in the first half of the year. Previously, Chinese liu accounted for more than 50% of exports. Supplies to China decreased due to the reorientation towards other markets, in particular the Philippines and Japan, which in June occupied second and third place among buyers. The half-year ended with an upward trend in exports.”said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
The main exporter of pork remains the state of Santa Catarina, with 337 thousand tons shipped in 2024, 5.1% more than in the same period last year. In second place are Rio Grande do Sul with 131 thousand tons (-2.5%), Paraná with 80.2 thousand tons (-1.6%), Mato Grosso with 17.5 thousand tons (+40.3%) and Mato Grosso do Sul with 12.6 thousand tons (-2.8%).
“It is worth noting the continued growth of exports to all countries in North and South America. Supplies to Chile and Peru have increased significantly. This is an indicator of Brazil’s new strategy aimed at distributing pork exports.”“said ABPA market director Luis Rua.
