The agreement to restore ferry service on the Black Sea was signed by Georgian Railway, Bulgarian Railway and Bulgarian shipping company PNA LTD, the press service of the Georgian company reported on July 11.
“The parties agreed on all conditions for mutual cooperation to restore the normal operation of the railway ferry”the message says.
It should be noted that preparatory work began in Georgia at the beginning of the year. The restoration of the crossing will increase freight traffic between the countries. It will also contribute to the development of the Trans-Caspian international transport corridor that will link China with Europe, bypassing Russia.
The ferry service between Georgia and Bulgaria was re-established in the summer of 2022, but soon ceased to operate. In other years, the crossing was also closed and restored.
