
The governments of Indonesia and Egypt will strengthen cooperation to provide assistance to the Palestinian people, ANTARA news agency quoted Indonesian Vice President Maruf Amin as saying on July 11.
Amin made the remarks during a meeting with Grand Sheikh of Al-Azhar University in Cairo, Ahmed Mohamed Ahmed Al-Tayeb, at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta.
He drew attention to the crisis in Gaza and stressed the need for continued support for Palestine from both Indonesia and Egypt.
“I believe that Indonesia and Egypt will continue to firmly support Palestine. Indonesia pays close attention to the crisis situation in Gaza.”He noticed.
Amin also highlighted Indonesia’s continued commitment to cooperation with Egypt in providing humanitarian assistance. He pointed to the potential for cooperation in waqf (donations) and sadaqa (charity) management with Al-Azhar University, which could have long-term implications.
“I hope that Zakat and Al-Azhar Charity House can cooperate with the National Alms Agency (Baznas) and the Indonesian Waqf Agency in this matter.”He noticed.
On this occasion, Al-Tayeb conveyed the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and expressed his gratitude for Indonesia’s warm welcome.
He noted that the President appreciates Indonesia’s key role in helping the people of Gaza and expressed hope that Indonesia will continue to push for a ceasefire in Gaza, support the return of refugees and increase humanitarian assistance.
