The United States may allow its operational ATACMS tactical missiles to be used to strike deep into Russian territory, Pentagon spokeswoman Sabrina Singh said on July 12 during a U.S. defense briefing.
“Our policy remains the same”,” Singh stressed. “At this time, we have not authorized the use of ATACMS for deep strikes into Russian territory.”.
However, he noted that this approach of the US administration may change. For example, Singh recalled that earlier the US changed the rules for the use of its missiles by kyiv in the Kharkov region.

Let us also recall that on June 23, the Armed Forces of Ukraine launched an attack on Crimea using American ATACMS missiles. The air defense forces on duty shot down four of the five missiles launched. The fifth missile, under the influence of the air defense, deviated in the final section of its trajectory and exploded its warhead over the city. People, including children, were injured as a result of falling fragments of cluster munitions.
153 people were injured with injuries of varying severity, 79 of them were hospitalized, including 27 children. In total, four people died.
