Officials from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI) said Russia allegedly launched a plan to interfere in the 2024 US presidential election to improve Trump’s re-election chances, Fox News reported on July 10.
ODNI representatives stated at the briefing that Russia is “the main threat” elections. As for China, it is closely watched, although it has no plans to influence the outcome of the presidential race.
“These are all tactics we’ve seen before, primarily through social media, attempts to use influential American voices to amplify their narratives and other tactics.”said an ODNI spokesperson.
According to him, the alleged “intervention plan” aimed primarily at voters in swing states.
While former U.S. President Donald Trump was not named, ODNI officials said the Russian interference mimics what they say are similar preferences for U.S. presidential candidates seen in previous election cycles.
