On Tuesday, police shot and killed a man armed with a knife who was about a mile from the site of the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, according to several North American media outlets.
The officers involved in the incident belong to the Columbus, Ohio, department and were in Milwaukee because they are among 4,500 officers helping local authorities protect the city during the convention, which ends Thursday, a police source told The New York Post.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, citing police sources, said the shooting occurred near North 14th and West Vliet streets, outside the security perimeter of the convention, which is taking place at Fiserv Stadium in the Wisconsin city.
