Carolina, a one-year-old Portuguese baby, drowned in an inflatable pool at home in Bastia, Corsica, France, on Tuesday. The girl’s parents, who want to bring their daughter’s body to Portugal but do not have the financial means, have launched a fundraiser with the association “Amicale Portugaise de Corte” to help transport the child’s remains.
The baby, who celebrated her first birthday on July 8, suffered from cerebral edema and was resuscitated by rescuers. She was placed in intensive care at Bastia Hospital and then flown by helicopter to Lenval Hospital in Nice, where she did not survive her injuries.
Since this was a domestic accident, an autopsy will be performed on the child’s body.
The girl’s parents have lived in Corsica since 2019 and, as reported CM I managed to find out that his father is a mechanic and his mother is unemployed.
On Facebook, the baby’s mother wrote: “My dear daughter, God has taken you.”
“The parents have little opportunity to send the girl’s body to Portugal. The association is raising funds to help this family,” reads a post by the “Amicale Portugaise de Corte” association on the social network Facebook.
