A 17-year-old boy has been charged in connection with a train derailment in Lancaster County, Nebraska, The New York Post reported on July 26.
The teen faces two counts of criminal mischief and criminal damage over $5,000, both Class IV felonies. The motive for the crime was filming a YouTube video.
On April 21, a 17-year-old posted a video on YouTube capturing the moment a train derailed in Bennett, Nebraska. In the video, the teen can be heard saying: “Oh Lord!”filming the derailing carriages.
After filming the video, the teen reported the derailed train to authorities, but authorities later obtained a search warrant to seize the teen’s cell phone and digital voice recorder, which later led to his arrest.
Let’s look at how hard the teenager tried to gain popularity on YouTube: he didn’t even think about the harm, that derailing a train is dangerous for the driver, that it is a crime for which he can be punished.
