US fears possibility of full-scale war after Golan bombing

The bombing of the Druze settlement of Majdal Shams in the Golan Heights could cause the conflict to escalate into a full-scale war between Hezbollah and Israel, US officials said on July 27, according to Axios.

The incident in the Golan Heights has raised Washington’s fears of a possible escalation of the situation in the region.

“What happened today could be the trigger for something we’ve been worrying about and trying to avoid for 10 months.”“, stressed a source close to the US administration.

The lack of clarity on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip only aggravates the current situation, increasing the risks of a possible conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

It should be noted that the Israeli authorities resolutely stated the gravity of the situation after the shelling of the Golan Heights. Thus, Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz called the incident a crossing of all red lines and warned of a possible escalation of tension to the level of a full-scale war. “Israel’s reaction will be appropriate”he said.
