A 23-year-old man has died in a serious accident with cattle on the EN369 in Portalegre

National Road 369 (EN369), which connects Alter do Chão with Ponte de Sor in the parish of Portalegre, is closed in both directions due to the loss of a heavy vehicle transporting livestock. The accident left a 23-year-old man dead and a 30-year-old man seriously injured.

“The inspection took place at 16:55 on Tuesday and the injured were taken to prison. We cannot speak about their condition at this time,” an official source in the civil defense told CM.

There are 25 emergency personnel and 10 vehicles on site from the Alter do Chão, Portalegre and Ponte de Sor fire departments, as well as the GNR, which is rerouting traffic.

“The animals remained inside the trailer of a heavy-duty vehicle, and the operation being carried out is also aimed at them,” the same source concluded.
