Air France and its subsidiary Transavia plan to resume flights to Beirut on Thursday, suspended since July 29 due to the geopolitical situation in Lebanon, representatives of both companies said.
“At this stage, and depending on the evolution of the security situation at the destination, the airline plans to resume the Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Beirut flights, suspended since July 29, 2024, from Thursday, July 15, August 2024,” Air France said in a statement.
“This decision also concerns Transavia France,” a spokesman told AFP.
“The continuation of operations will continue subject to a daily assessment of the situation on the ground,” Air France stressed, reiterating that the safety of customers and crew is “its absolute priority.”
Current commercial flexibility measures “remain in place, allowing customers booked on flights to/from Beirut scheduled up to and including 25 August 2024 to postpone or cancel their trip free of charge,” Air France adds.
Several other airlines have suspended flights to the Lebanese capital over fears of a military escalation between Israel and the Shiite Hezbollah movement.
Air France also continues to operate flights between France and Tel Aviv, while other international groups, such as Italy’s ITA, have suspended flights to Tel Aviv until at least August 15.
