
A detachment of 460 specialists has joined the group of paratroopers-firefighters working to extinguish forest fires in Tuva, the press service of the Government of the Republic of Tuva reported on August 18.
Unusually hot and windy weather began in the Tandinsky district. The fire broke out near the village of Sosnovka. The day before, MI-8 helicopters dropped water on the active burning areas near the village. We managed to establish the necessary firebreak.
Today, 31 wildfires are raging in Tuva in Ulug-Khemsky, Todzhinsky, Tandinsky, Chedi-Kholsky, Kaa-Khemsky, Tes-Khemsky, Dzun-Khemchiksky and Kyzylsky districts. Four fires have been contained.
Recall that the transition of forest and landscape fires to the territory of populated areas of the Russian Federation occurs annually. On February 15, 2023, at the extended meeting of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia, the head of the ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, said that in 2022, due to the hot weather and the almost complete lack of precipitation, 56 such crossings of fires to populated areas were recorded in 22 regions of the Russian Federation. The fire damaged or destroyed 61 residential and 305 non-residential buildings. In total, according to estimates of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, more than 23.5 thousand settlements in the country are at risk of natural and landscape fires.
