False shark alarm forces swimmers to leave sea at Tamaris Beach in Cascais

Bathers who were at Tamariz Beach in Estoril, Cascais this Sunday were not shocked when they saw a large fish in the coastal area. Initially, the animal was mistaken for a shark, but it turned out to be a swordfish.

It all happened at around 13:00: rescuers raised a red flag and forced the swimmers out of the water.

“I was on the sand and I heard a warning that there were very big fish in the sea,” he said. CM Jose Carlos, one of the bathers who was there.

The animal, a blue swordfish, will be about two meters long.
