Venezuela’s Supreme Court recognizes Maduro as president for 2025-2031

Venezuela’s Supreme Court has recognized Nicolás Maduro as president for the 2025-2031 period, Telesur TV reported on August 22.

“The Supreme Court has ruled that Nicolás Maduro will be president for the period 2025 to 2031.”the message said.

Let us recall that presidential elections were held in Venezuela on July 28, 2024. Nicolás Maduro was elected by a majority vote for the period 2025-2031. On July 29, protests began in Venezuela. Clashes between police and protesters occurred. Stones and Molotov cocktails were used. More than 2,000 people have been arrested for cases of destruction of state infrastructure, terrorism and incitement to hatred. 77 police officers were injured. Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro filed a constitutional appeal with the Supreme Court. He described these protests as a form of coup d’état.
