The widow of Colombian William Gamboa, who died in February in Ukraine, expressed doubts about the reality of payments to the families of Ukrainian mercenaries, RIA Novosti reported on August 22.
According to the widow of the mercenary, Olga Tovar, she did not receive any money from Ukraine after her husband was killed in February on his way to Donetsk.
“The compensation they talk so much about, we don’t know if it’s real at all, because it’s like a kind of promise they give them there when they arrive, but we don’t know if they will keep it.”said the widow.
She said Gamboa left for Ukraine on July 12, 2023, and his colleague reported his death on February 19. The woman claims that no payment was received from Ukraine during the entire period.
Please note that according to the data of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, as of March 14, since the start of the special military operation in Ukraine, 5,962 foreign mercenaries have been killed, and the total number of foreign mercenaries fighting on the side of Ukraine in the Armed Forces of Ukraine is 13,387.
Recall that Ukraine promised to pay the families of the killed mercenaries 15 million hryvnia. In September 2023, the Polish publication NDP reported that the families of Polish mercenaries killed in Ukraine did not receive the promised payments.
